Window Cleaning in East London (E)
Grimy glass makes a whole room look tired, even when everything else is clean. Our window cleaning in East London covers the glass, frames, sills and tracks, so the window looks clean from edge to edge and not just in the middle of the pane. We clean inside windows for flats, houses, shops and offices across E postcodes, as a one-off job, alongside a deeper clean or as part of regular visits.
Send us a few photos or call to describe your windows. We’ll give you a free, no-obligation quote with the scope agreed before we start.
What a proper window clean covers
A clean pane with a filthy frame still looks dirty. We work from the outer edges in, so the dust in the tracks doesn’t end up smeared across the glass you’ve just finished.
Glass
- Interior glass cleaned with a squeegee and microfibre for a streak-free finish
- Fingerprints, nose prints from children and pets, and cooking splashes on kitchen windows
- Edges and corners where dirty water collects and dries into lines
- Glazed internal doors, glass panels in front doors and Juliet balcony doors
- Mirrors and glass partitions in offices and shops, if you add them to the list
Frames and sills
- uPVC, aluminium and painted timber frames wiped down, including the tops of frames where dust settles
- Internal sills cleaned, with scuffs and rings from plant pots lifted where the finish allows
- Window handles, locks and stays wiped
- Surface black spots on seals and frame edges treated, which is common in bedrooms and bathrooms with condensation
Tracks and runners
Window tracks fill with grit, dead insects, leaves and hair. We vacuum the loose debris out first, because wiping it wet turns it into a paste that’s twice as hard to shift. Then we clean the runners, the corners and the drainage slots on uPVC frames so rainwater can drain away as it should.
On sash windows we clean the parts we can reach safely without taking the sashes out. Tilt-and-turn windows, common in newer flats, let us reach both sides of the glass from inside, which is often the easiest way to get the outside panes clean on upper floors.
Inside only, outside, or both?
Most of our window work is inside window cleaning. Interior glass is where you notice the smears, and it’s what landlords, agents and inventory clerks check most closely.
External cleaning depends on how we can reach the glass safely:
- Ground-floor windows we can usually reach without special equipment, so we can often add them.
- Windows that tilt or open inwards can often be cleaned on both sides from inside.
- Upper-floor external glass on fixed or outward-opening windows needs proper high-level access. It isn’t included automatically, and we’ll tell you honestly if it’s something we can’t do safely on your property.
If you live in a block with a managing agent, check whether external window cleaning is already arranged for the building. Many blocks across East London include it in the service charge. That way you only pay us for the inside.
Extras, limits and when cleaning won’t fix it
Some problems look like dirt but aren’t. We’ll tell you before we start, so you don’t pay for a clean that can’t solve them.
- Misting between the panes means the double-glazing seal has failed. Moisture is trapped inside the unit and only a glazier can sort it out.
- Scratches, etching and hard-water marks that have been on the glass for years may fade but won’t always disappear.
- Persistent black mould that comes back within weeks is a ventilation or damp problem. We can clean the surface growth, but it’ll return until the cause is dealt with.
- Rotten timber sills or flaking paint need a decorator. Scrubbing them only makes them worse.
- Paint spots, plaster splashes and sealant smears on new windows need careful scraping. That’s covered under after-builders work and quoted separately.
- Leaded lights, stained glass and specialist coatings need gentler methods. Tell us about them when you book.
Window cleaning works well as an add-on to a deep clean or an end-of-tenancy clean. We’re already in the property, we’ve already moved the furniture, and the tracks and sills get cleaned in the same sequence as the rest of the room.
How booking works
- Tell us about the windows. Give us the number of windows, the type (sash, casement, tilt-and-turn, bay), which floor they’re on and whether you want inside only. A few photos help a lot.
- We agree the checklist and price. We confirm which windows, tracks, sills and extras are included before anything is booked.
- Access is arranged. We’ll agree key collection, concierge details, entry codes or a time you’ll be home.
- We clean. We bring our own supplies and equipment unless we’ve agreed otherwise.
- We do a final check. We walk back through the agreed list and look at the glass from an angle and in daylight, which is where streaks show up.
If we’ve missed something that was in scope, get in touch promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how that works when you book.
What to do before we arrive
- Clear the sills of plants, photos, ornaments and children’s toys
- Open the curtains, and pull blinds up where you can
- Leave out the window lock keys, as these get lost more than anything else
- Tell us about restrictors on upper-floor windows. We work with them in place and won’t remove them.
What changes the price
Every quote is based on the windows themselves, not a flat rate for the house. The main factors are:
- How many windows there are, plus glazed doors and partitions
- The style of window, since multi-pane Georgian bars and leaded lights take far longer than a single large pane
- Condition, for example a first clean in years compared with regular upkeep
- Whether tracks, frames and sills are full detail or a wipe
- Inside only, or reachable outside glass as well
- Access, parking and whether the job is booked alongside another clean
You can see how we put quotes together on our pricing page. The price is agreed upfront before any work begins.
Working in homes, rentals and businesses
Flats and houses. Victorian terraces across E often have sash windows and deep bays, while newer flats tend to have floor-to-ceiling glazing and tilt-and-turn units. They take different amounts of time, so tell us which you have. If you’ve got pets, let us know, especially cats who like the windowsill.
Rental move-outs. Smeared glass, dusty tracks and dead flies in the runners are easy to spot during inventory checks. We’ll work from the inventory notes if you share them. A clean can improve how the windows look at checkout, but it can’t repair a cracked pane or a broken handle.
Shops and offices. We can schedule internal shopfront glass, glass entrance doors and meeting-room partitions around your opening hours where possible. Glass doors near entrances pick up fingerprints daily, so many businesses add them to every visit.
Parking. On-street parking in parts of East London is limited or controlled. If you have a permit, a driveway or a visitor bay, telling us in advance saves time on the day.
How we get a streak-free finish
Streaks come from dirty water, too much product or glass drying before it’s finished. Here’s how we avoid them:
- Fresh water, often. Once the water is cloudy, it leaves a film on the glass.
- Grit off first. Tracks and frames are vacuumed before anything wet touches them.
- Separate cloths. Window cloths stay for windows. Bathroom and kitchen cloths never come near the glass.
- Gentle on seals. Harsh solvents can perish the rubber gaskets on uPVC and aluminium frames, so we don’t use them.
- No blades on unknown glass. Toughened glass, low-emissivity coatings and self-cleaning coatings can scratch, so we check before scraping anything.
- Watch the sun. Glass in strong direct sunlight dries too quickly and leaves marks, so we plan the order of rooms around it where we can.
Eco-friendly products are available on request. For glass, a well-diluted solution and good technique matter more than strong chemicals.
What customers say
“We had the inside windows done as part of our move-out clean. The tracks on the sliding balcony door hadn’t been touched in four years, and they came out spotless. The agent didn’t mention the windows at checkout.” Hannah R., Stratford, end-of-tenancy with windows
“Lots of small panes in a Victorian bay, which I’d been dreading. They did every one and the sills too. Keys were left with my neighbour and it all went smoothly.” Dev P., Walthamstow, interior window cleaning
“They told us straight away that the cloudy bedroom window was a failed seal and not dirt. That saved us paying for something cleaning couldn’t fix. The rest look brand new.” Marcus O., Leyton, one-off window clean
“We book the shopfront glass and the entrance door before opening. No smears when the sun comes through in the morning, which is all I wanted.” Aisha B., Forest Gate, retail glass cleaning
Window cleaning FAQs
Can I book inside window cleaning only? Yes. Most of our window bookings are inside only, covering the glass, frames, sills and tracks. Outside glass can be added where we can reach it safely.
How often should windows be cleaned? For most homes, a full interior clean every three to six months works well, with quick glass touch-ups in between. Homes on busy roads, kitchens with lots of cooking steam and rooms prone to condensation usually need it more often.
Do you clean window tracks and frames? Yes, if they’re included in the agreed checklist. We vacuum out loose grit, clean the runners and corners, and clear the drainage slots on uPVC frames.
Can windows be added to a deep clean or end-of-tenancy clean? Yes, and it’s often the most efficient way to book. Tell us when you request the quote so the windows are written into the checklist.
Do you clean upper-floor windows from outside? Only where it’s safe. Tilt-and-turn and inward-opening windows can often be cleaned from inside. Fixed upper-floor glass needs specialist access, and we’ll tell you honestly if we can’t do it.
Will you remove condensation marks and black mould? We clean surface mould spots from seals and frames. If the mould keeps coming back, or there’s mist between the panes, the cause is ventilation or a failed seal, and cleaning won’t fix that.
Do I need to be home? No. Plenty of customers leave keys with a neighbour, a concierge or in an agreed key arrangement. We’ll sort out the details with you beforehand.
