About Our Cleaning Company in East London

Cleaning East London is a local cleaning company looking after homes, rented flats and workplaces across the E postcodes, from Walthamstow and Leytonstone down to Poplar, Wapping and Canary Wharf. This page explains how we work: how we choose and brief our cleaners, how we check the work, and the products and equipment we bring through your door.

You won’t find a glossy founding story here. You’ll find the practical detail you’d want to know before letting someone into your home or office.

Who do we clean for?

We clean for people who need a specific job done properly. Most of our work falls into a few groups:

  • Busy households in family homes in Forest Gate, Leyton and East Ham who want a weekly or fortnightly visit to keep on top of kitchens, bathrooms and floors.
  • Tenants and landlords in flats around Stratford, Bow and Whitechapel who need a thorough clean before an inventory check or a new tenancy.
  • Homeowners after building work dealing with plaster dust on skirting boards, paint spots on glass and grit in window tracks.
  • Offices, shops and shared buildings in Shoreditch, Hackney and the Docklands that need cleaning around opening hours, trading times and communal access.

Each of these needs a different kind of clean, and we’d rather tell you which one fits than sell you the biggest option. You can see how they differ on our cleaning services page.

How do we vet and train our cleaners?

Every cleaner who works for us is vetted and insured before they’re sent to a customer. We check who they are, confirm they’re entitled to work, and follow up references before anyone goes to a booking alone.

Vetting tells you a person is trustworthy. Training tells you they know what they’re doing, so we cover both.

What our cleaners are briefed on

  • Working to a checklist. Each job has an agreed list of tasks, and our cleaners work through it room by room rather than relying on memory.
  • Surface care. Natural stone worktops, oiled wood, high-gloss kitchen doors and brushed steel all react badly to the wrong product. We brief cleaners on what to use and, just as important, what to leave alone.
  • Safe product handling. That means never mixing bleach with acidic limescale removers, keeping windows open when using stronger products, and storing everything out of reach of children and pets during the visit.
  • Access and keys. How to collect and return keys, what to do if a concierge or building manager is involved, and how to leave a property secure.

When a cleaner is new to a type of work, such as an after-builders clean or a commercial kitchen, they’ll start alongside someone who’s done it before.

What are our cleaning standards?

Our standard is simple. We do what we agreed to do, and we do it properly.

That starts before the visit. We agree the scope, the price and any extras upfront, based on the size of the property, its condition, the tasks you need and how we’ll get in. Nothing gets added on the day without you knowing first.

Why we don’t promise everything on every visit

A regular two-hour visit can’t include defrosting the freezer, scrubbing the oven interior and washing every window. Trying to squeeze it all in means everything gets done badly.

So for regular cleaning we work to a priorities list you’ve agreed with us. Typically that covers kitchen surfaces, bathrooms, floors, dusting and bins. Deeper jobs such as oven interiors, carpet extraction, high-level dusting and external windows are quoted separately, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

End-of-tenancy work

For move-out cleans we work from a room-by-room checklist shaped by your inventory or your agent’s cleaning requirements. If the agent wants the extractor filters degreased and the inside of the kitchen cupboards wiped, that goes on the list.

We’ll be straight with you on one point. Cleaning can’t fix wear and tear or damage, and no cleaner can guarantee your deposit back or an inventory pass. What we can do is make sure the cleaning side has been done thoroughly and checked.

How do we check the quality of our work?

Quality control happens at the end of every job. Before leaving, the cleaner goes back through the agreed task list and checks each item. Have the taps been descaled? Has the shower screen been squeegeed so it doesn’t dry streaky? Have the skirting boards behind the bedroom door been wiped as well as the ones you can see?

If you find something within the agreed scope that’s been missed, contact us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We confirm how re-cleans work and the timeframe for reporting when you book, so there’s no confusion later.

Feedback works the other way too. If a regular cleaner keeps missing the top of the fridge or you’d rather they used your own floor cleaner, tell us. We’ll update the list.

What equipment and products do we use?

We bring our own cleaning supplies and equipment unless we’ve agreed otherwise. A typical kit includes:

  • Colour-coded microfibre cloths, so the cloth used on the toilet never touches the kitchen worktop
  • A vacuum with attachments for edges, upholstery and stairs
  • Mops and buckets suited to the floor type
  • Degreasers for hobs and extractor hoods
  • Limescale removers for taps, shower heads and screens, which East London’s hard water makes essential
  • Neutral cleaners for delicate surfaces such as sealed stone and wood

If you’ve got a preferred product, an allergy in the household or a surface you’re nervous about, tell us before the visit. A marble vanity or an unsealed slate floor needs different treatment from standard tiles, and it’s far better to know in advance.

Specialist jobs use specialist kit. Carpet cleaning, for example, uses extraction machines, and we’ll talk you through drying times so you’re not walking on damp carpet that evening.

What’s our environmental approach to cleaning?

We keep it practical rather than making grand claims. Here’s what that looks like day to day:

  • Microfibre first. Good microfibre lifts a lot of everyday grime with just water or a mild cleaner, so we use less product overall.
  • Correct dilution. Over-concentrated products waste chemicals and leave sticky residue that attracts dirt. We dilute to the manufacturer’s guidance.
  • Eco-friendly options on request. If you’d prefer plant-based or lower-impact products, we can use them. We check each one suits the surface, because some eco products aren’t right for stone or certain finishes.
  • Reusable over disposable. Washable cloths and mop heads instead of piles of wipes and paper towels.

If sustainability matters to you, mention it when you get in touch and we’ll plan the clean around it.

How do we handle health and safety?

Safe cleaning protects you, your property and our team. Our cleaners use products as directed, ventilate rooms when using stronger chemicals, and keep products away from children and pets while they work.

In workplaces, we put wet-floor signs out on hard floors, keep fire exits and walkways clear, and follow any site rules you have, from signing in at reception to avoiding server rooms. In homes, we’ll ask about pets before we arrive, because a curious dog and a bucket of floor cleaner shouldn’t share a kitchen.

Our cleaners are insured. If you need details of our cover for a lease, a managing agent or your own records, the insurance page explains what we can provide and how to request it.

How do we fit around your home or business?

We agree access, keys and arrival times in advance. That might mean collecting keys from a letting agent in Stratford, being let in by a concierge in a Canary Wharf block, or having a key left with a neighbour in Walthamstow.

For commercial clients, we schedule around the premises where we can. That could be early mornings before a Shoreditch office opens or evenings after a shop on Roman Road closes. Short-notice bookings depend on availability, so the sooner you get in touch, the more options you’ll have.

You can see the full process, from first enquiry to final check, on our how it works page.

What do our customers say?

“Had them in before our check-out from a flat in Bow. They went through the agent’s list with me first and spent ages on the oven and the bathroom grout. The inventory clerk only flagged a scuff on the wall, which was down to us, not the clean.”

Hannah R., Bow · End of tenancy cleaning

“We’ve had a fortnightly clean for a while now. I asked them to stop using bleach because of the dog and it’s never been an issue since. Kitchen floor always done properly, even under the table.”

Marcus O., Leytonstone · Regular cleaning

“Our office is small but busy. They come in early before we open, the desks are clear of crumbs and the entrance glass doesn’t have handprints all over it any more.”

Sana K., Hackney · Office cleaning
