Warehouse Cleaning in East London (E)
Warehouse cleaning in East London has to fit around forklifts, deliveries and shift changes. We clean warehouse floors, lower racking, loading bays, offices and welfare areas for units across E postcodes. The work follows a scope you’ve agreed and a schedule your site can actually run with. Call us or send a few details about the unit, and we’ll arrange a walkthrough and a free, no-obligation quote.
What we clean in a working warehouse
Every site is different, so we build the checklist around your layout and stock, not a standard list. Most warehouse jobs cover four zones.
Floors and aisles
- Sweeping and dust collection along aisles, under pallet positions we can reach safely, and around dock doors
- Removing shrink-wrap offcuts, strapping, cardboard and loose pallet splinters
- Wet cleaning or machine scrubbing of sealed concrete and resin floors, where the surface and drying time allow
- Spot cleaning tyre marks and minor oil drips with products suited to the floor coating
- Cleaning walkway markings and pedestrian routes so they stay visible
Racking and storage
- Wiping lower beams, uprights and base plates where dust and debris collect
- Clearing debris from under bottom-level pallet positions
- Dusting shelving in small-parts areas, mezzanine stores and pick faces
We clean racking. We don’t inspect it. If we see a bent upright or a missing beam lock, we’ll tell you, but your racking inspection is still needed.
Loading bays and goods-in
- Clearing dock levellers and the area around dock shelters
- Removing grit, leaves and packaging blown in from the yard
- Cleaning goods-in benches, scanners’ surrounding surfaces and returns areas
Offices, toilets and welfare areas
Warehouse office and welfare areas often get forgotten because the floor takes priority. We clean them properly: desks, keyboards, kitchen worktops, microwaves, fridge exteriors, toilets, urinals, showers, locker rooms and canteen tables. Toilet and kitchen cloths are colour-coded and kept apart, so nothing from a urinal ends up near a canteen table. If your site has a bigger office block, our office cleaning service can run alongside the warehouse work.
Dust control: why a quick sweep isn’t enough
Warehouse dust is a mix of cardboard fibre, concrete dust from the floor, and grit from tyres and the yard. A hard broom pushed fast lifts the finest part into the air, and it settles back on stock, racking and scanner screens within the hour.
So we work in a set order:
- High to low. We clean accessible surfaces before the floor, so whatever falls gets collected.
- Low-dust sweeping. We use sweeping compounds or damp methods where the floor allows, and vacuums with suitable filtration for fine dust around offices and pick areas.
- Machine or wet clean last. Scrubbing removes the bonded layer a broom leaves behind, which is why sealed floors look grey again so quickly after dry sweeping alone.
For dusty sites, regular light visits keep build-up down far better than a heavy clean every few months.
Machinery, high-level work and what needs separate agreement
Some tasks need their own plan and are quoted separately.
- Machinery. Machinery-safe cleaning means we clean around and on the outside of equipment only once your team has stopped and isolated it. We don’t operate your equipment, override guards or open control panels. Lock-out procedures stay with your site.
- High-level cleaning. Upper racking, high beams, light fittings and roof trusses need suitable access equipment and trained operators. We’ll agree the method, equipment, exclusion zones and timing first, usually when the area can be closed off.
- Scrubber dryers and specialist floor work. Machine scrubbing, degreasing heavy oil staining or stripping floor coatings depends on the floor and is scoped individually.
- External areas. Yards, canopies and high-level glazing are outside a standard visit unless agreed.
Cleaning isn’t the answer to everything. Large chemical or fuel spills, suspected asbestos, heavy pest contamination, mould from roof leaks and damaged floor coatings need the right specialist or a repair first. We’ll say so honestly rather than clean over the problem.
Method statements, inductions and site rules
Most warehouses in East London expect contractors to work to their site rules, and we’re happy to. Where your site needs them, we’ll prepare a risk assessment and method statement for the agreed scope. It will cover the tasks, products, equipment, working areas and how we’ll separate our team from vehicle traffic.
We’ll also:
- Attend your site induction and follow your sign-in procedure
- Wear the PPE your site requires, including hi-vis and safety footwear
- Keep to pedestrian routes and set up wet-floor signs and barriers when working on the floor
- Supply product information for the chemicals we bring, so it can sit with your COSHH records
Our cleaners are vetted and insured. If you need insurance documents for your contractor file, ask when you enquire. Our insurance page has more detail.
How a warehouse cleaning job runs
- Enquiry. Tell us the unit size, what’s stored, shift times and what’s bothering you most, whether that’s dusty stock, scruffy toilets or a floor that never looks clean.
- Walkthrough. For most commercial jobs we’ll visit to see the layout, floor type, racking heights and traffic routes. Photos help us prepare first.
- Checklist and quote. We agree the tasks, frequency, timing and any extras, and the price is agreed upfront before any work starts.
- Access and paperwork. We agree keys or fobs, alarm codes, arrival times, induction and any method statement.
- The clean. We bring our own supplies and equipment unless agreed otherwise. Tell us before the visit about any sensitive stock, food-grade areas or products you’d like us to avoid. Eco-friendly options are available on request, checked for each surface.
- Final check. We check the work against the agreed list before we leave. If anything in scope has been missed, contact us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right.
What helps on the day: clear aisles of loose pallets where you can, tell us which zones are live, and make sure someone can point us to isolation and spill kits.
What changes the price
We don’t quote warehouse cleaning from a price list, because two units the same size can need very different work. The main factors are:
- Floor area and layout. Open floor is quicker than narrow aisles and mezzanines.
- Condition. A first clean after months of build-up takes longer than ongoing maintenance.
- Task list. Welfare areas, offices, racking and machine scrubbing each add time.
- Frequency. Regular visits usually cost less per visit than occasional heavy cleans.
- Specialist methods. High-level access, degreasing and floor machines are quoted separately.
- Timing and access. Night, weekend or shift-gap working and restricted access all affect scheduling.
You can see how we approach costs on our pricing page.
One-off cleans and ongoing warehouse contracts
A one-off clean suits a lease handover, an audit, new racking going in, or a unit that’s simply got away from you. Many sites then move to regular cleaning, with a schedule built around the operation. That might mean daily welfare cleans, weekly floor work and a quarterly deeper clean of racking and goods-in.
Warehouse cleaning contracts in East London work best with a written schedule and a named contact on each side. We’ll review the scope with you as stock, staffing or shifts change. For sites that also want restocking of consumables and general day-to-day upkeep, see our janitorial services.
What site managers say
“We run two shifts so there’s barely a gap. They worked out a slot between them, cleaned the welfare block and the goods-in area, and were gone before the late shift started. The toilets are finally what they should be.” Daniel O., Beckton, regular warehouse cleaning
“Needed a method statement before they could start. It came through quickly and actually matched what they did on site.” Shabana R., Silvertown, warehouse and office cleaning
“First clean took a while because the place hadn’t been done properly in ages. Floor under the bottom racking was full of strapping and wrap. Now they come weekly and it doesn’t get that bad. One of the lads spotted a damaged upright and flagged it, which we appreciated.” Mark T., Leyton, warehouse cleaning contract
“Cleaned out a mezzanine store before our new tenant moved in. Dusty job, done neatly.” Ioana P., Hackney Wick, one-off warehouse clean
Warehouse cleaning FAQs
Can you clean while the warehouse is operating? Usually, yes. We work in areas you’ve released, keep to pedestrian routes and section off zones while floors dry. Some tasks, like high-level work or machine scrubbing main aisles, are better done between shifts or at weekends.
Do you clean racking at height? Yes, by separate agreement. High-level racking needs the right access equipment, trained operators and an exclusion zone, so we plan and quote it as its own task.
Will you clean our machinery? We clean external surfaces and the areas around machinery once your team has stopped and isolated it. We don’t operate equipment, remove guards or clean inside control panels.
Can you provide a risk assessment and method statement? Yes. Where your site needs them, we’ll prepare a risk assessment and method statement for the agreed scope before work starts, and attend your induction.
Do you bring your own equipment and products? Yes, unless we’ve agreed otherwise. Let us know about food-grade areas, sensitive stock or preferred products before the first visit.
What postcodes do you cover? We cover units across E postcodes, including industrial estates and business parks. Check our coverage page or call to confirm your site.
Can you come at short notice? Sometimes. Short-notice slots depend on availability, so get in touch as early as you can, particularly if you need an induction or method statement first.
Do you also clean the offices and canteen? Yes. Offices, toilets, kitchens, canteens and locker rooms are often part of the same schedule, with separate colour-coded cloths for washroom and food areas.
